Dear World,
I would say I am sorry for not treating you as Christ would if he were to appear as flesh on earth tonight.
I'm sorry that you feel more judged than loved by churches.
I'm sorry that you avoid rather than welcome Christians into your work spaces and public places.
I'm sorry that you hate the ones who should show what true love is.
I'm sorry you feel more condemned than encouraged when you walk through our doors, read our books, sing our songs.
I'm sorry you have mistaken our Truth for more lies.
I'm sorry we have yet to take the planks from our eyes before removing your specks.
I'm sorry...
To the gays and the lesbians I would say that I'm sorry for anyone who told you you could not be loved by God. He created you and He sees you as His beautiful creation regardless of your choices. He loves you enough to give you that freely made choice to go your own way. I don't agree with your ways, but neither should I withhold the Father's love from you as He never has withheld it from me.
To the homeless, I would say I'm sorry for blantantly, knowingly ignoring you. I'm sorry I don't stop to stare, smile, acknowledge you are there. I give money when I can, but I cannot lie by saying I always never carry cash to give. I don't mean to judge and I beg your forgiveness for when I have. I would feed you if I could, but for now I pray the Protector will send His angels to guard you as you sleep, and as you eat may watch they keep.
To the women considering or who have had an abortion. I say I'm sorry for any churches who kicked you out rather than welcoming you in. I beg you, do not turn your back on the true Beloved for He will be your knight in shining armor. He holds your baby close in His arms, and awaits the day for you two to meet. To those considering, I beg you to remember who once gave you life. I understand fear of rejection, but I also understand fear of regret. Give this life a chance, give another family hope.
To the young girls living over the porcelain throne, that is not the throne you were meant to inherit. The King of Kings has placed a crown of glory upon you, yet you replace it with ashes. He brings you to your feet and holds your hair as you fall back. You are beautiful just the way you are. Seek within and you will see, true beauty is from the heart not the eyes. The magazines lie, and if the models could speak I'm sure the truth would say: "I envy you."
To the outcasts I would say I empathize for I was one of them; but I'm sorry that as I found the light I forgot you were there with me. I'm sorry for walking by without leaving a hug, a kiss, a glance, hope to be found., a chance to be loved. I'm sorry for judging you by your looks rather than taking the time to hear your stories which have made you who you are today. I'm sorry that you hide in the back pews of some churches and the congregations ignore you like the rest. I'm sorry that you would rather stay in your depression than experience freedom of confession.
To the dreamers who live the life of those we see on the big screen. To you I say I am so, so sorry that we have allowed you to fall into the lies of thinking that reality tv shows are devised from true reality. I'm sorry that you aim to live as your favorite Hollywood stars not admitting the full realization that your idol is a figment of an author's imagination. I am sorry Christians have hidden true identities of role models for you to follow. I am sorry for the heartaches you experience as you come to the full circle of knowing this is not real but there's nowhere else to go.
To the ones who struggle with pornography, I would say I am sorry for not providing open help without human placed condemnation. I do not know your pain, but I do know the Love you seek when you search. Open your heart, close your eyes, the most beautiful picture is hiding deep within. The Christ is the one you truly seek, your heart knows His face. A few moments of lustful pleasure cannot compare with the eternity of satisfaction Jesus will provide.
To the ladies (prostitutes) I see walk the streets near my work. I am sorry you feel so desperate you would sell your body for bread. To the customers (John's), I am sorry you fear no one could ever love you. I am sorry that you know of no other outlets, no other forms of love. For this is not love. This is deceit sugar-coated with facades of fear dipped in rejection. The truth you seek can be found from a Book, not a brothel. To the (pimps), I would say I am sorry you are so greedy you would treat your sisters as flesh to be thrown to the wolves.
To the invisible children of the world, the ones who go hungry, without clothing or shelter, the unloved and alone, unknown, with you I weep. For Jesus once said "Let the little children come to me" and instead I have shunned you to the shadows forgetting you exist. I am sorry I have not kept my Father's commands.
To the world I would say I am sorry for being such a hypocrite. I am one who publicly claims to be a world-changer, but has yet to change anything. To the world I would say I am sorry for keeping the answers to your problems to myself, hoarding its treasures for my own. To the world, I would say I'm sorry I haven't done anything sooner, but from today on I will do my very best to change myself first. I understand I must remove the plank from my own eye before I mention removing your speck. I understand I must regain the confidence and courage to stand against those of you who would rebuke and reject me. May God deal with us all, each individually, be it ever so severely, so He may move through me to change the way we see things.
Please understand, I will mess up. I will make mistakes. I will create more questions than answers, more problems than solutions. But I carry the truth. And this truth can and will set you free. We as Christians carry the truth as told per our testimonies. Hear us, permit us to speak just a few simple words...
And may those words you hear, for now, simply be:
"Please forgive us, we are truly sorry."
